Dangdai means "contemporary".
2. History
2.1 Dangdai Dolls Diaspora
In preference of freedom of thought, speech and space over the increasing congestion
of the human race, the Dangdai Dolls have chosen to live in the Vernal Village of
Dangdai, the coordinates of which are unknown.
3. Geography and Climate
The Vernal Village of Dangdai is situated in the Land of the Dolls,
the Rainbow Forest in the Valley of the Falls, the Foothills of the Mountain of
Heavenly Calls. The Mountain of Heavenly Calls which dominates the northern part
of the Village shields the village and agricultural heartland from encroaching
desert steppes.
3.1 Snow storms
Snow storms occasionally hit the village in winter-time.
3.2 Air Quality
Joint research between the Dangdai Dolls concluded that the air quality in and
around Dangdai Village is fantastic.
4. Village-scape
4.1 Architecture
The twelve (four residential, one dining, and seven dramatic and academic) buildings
are modern architectural forms strongly rooted in the Ming and Qing design
traditions.
5. Politics and Government
There is no discernible government or politics in Dangdai Village.
6. Economy
Dangdai Village is a self-sustaining agro-economy.
7. Demographics
Only the twelve Dangdai Dolls reside in Dangdai Village.
There is however an infinite population and variety of organisms, flora and fauna
about the village.
8. Culture
The Dangdai Dolls speak the Dangdai dialect, which belongs to the Mandarin subdivision
of spoken Chinese.
Dangdai opera is well-known throughout the village. Commonly lauded as one of the
highest achievements of Dangdai culture, Dangdai opera is performed through
a combination of song, spoken dialogue, and codified action sequences, such as gestures,
movement, and acrobatics. Much of Dangdai opera is carried out in an archaic stage
dialect quite different from modern Standard Mandarin and from the Dangdai dialect.
